FDCS requires administrative privileges
Symptoms / Solutions:
There are a few problems that indicate that you are having this issue:
- When you start the software, there are no tuners in the tuner pane. This will be accompanied with a database error in the error log pane.
- When you create a frequency list in the tuner calibration window there is an error message and the frequency list is not created.
- My IT department cannot provide admin rights to FDCS
To correct these issues, the databases which are located by default in the Program Files directory need to be moved to the user’s personal directories to which they have access rights:
These databases can be moved to a more accessible location.
- Find the original databases:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Focus Microwaves\Load Pull Explorer\LPExAdmin.mdb
C:\Program Files (x86)\Focus Microwaves\Load Pull Explorer\LPExData.mdb
C:\Program Files (x86)\Focus Microwaves\Load Pull Explorer\LPExSwitch.mdb
- Copy these files to a new location that does not have read/write access restrictions, such as the My Documents folder. The following is an example:
C:\Users\Username\Documents\Focus\LPExAdmin.mdb
C:\Users\Username\Documents\Focus\LPExData.mdb
C:\Users\Username\Documents\Focus\LPExSwitch.mdb
- Open the ODBC data source administrator:
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe
- Under User DSN, select the entry for LPExAdmin and select Configure…
- The path of the database needs to be changed to the new location. Click the Select button.
- Browse for the new location of the database.
- Repeat this for the other 2 databases.
