Category: AU4850 Pulsed IV

Symptoms / Solutions:

There are a number of software configuration changes that need to be done in order to change a 220v AU4850 system to a 1200v system.

DMM Configuration

When you start the Auriga software, if the DMM is connected and configured correctly, you should see “Measurement Enhance mode Active: 34461A” as shown in figure 1.

If not, follow the steps below:

  1. Find the appropriate visa address for the Amps DMM and Volts DMM from Agilent IO expert. The AMPS DMM (Left) and VOLT DMM (Right) are found in FCU module. The orientation is when the user is looking at the front of the FCU for 1200 volts system.
  2. Update the VISA ADDRESS in the files shown in Figure 2. The visa address should be updated in the following files:

DMM_AmpsCommands.xml
DMM_VoltsCommands.xml

If user is switching between 1200v to 220v very often, create two files with back up settings that you can copy the correct settings from as above.

In a 1200V system, you need both Amps DMM and Volts DMM files.

In a 220V system, you only require the Amps DMM file. The Volts DMM file can be renamed to _DMM_VoltsCommand.xml.

FCU Configuration

FCU is identified from Agilent IO with the string in IDN string: ‘G’ as shown in Figure 3.

Copy the COM port number and paste it in FilterControlUnit.txt file as shown in Figure 3.

COM port number may change when restarting the system or disconnecting the FCU.

DC Supply 3 and 4 Configuration

DC Supply 3 should be configured as follows:

1200v: APS DCP1200
220v: Agilent N5751A

When user is using DC supply config program for setting up the DC supplies, open the DC supply config window and select “Edit Commands” on DC Supply 4 as shown in figure 4.

The command editor will open. Update the SCPI commands from “@4” to “@3” as shown in Figure 5

To avoid this step every, create a backup of the DCSupplyCommands.xml for each configuration (figure 6).
