OMEGA Tuners

Focus Microwaves’ new OMEGA series of electro-mechanical tuners are designed with 5G test applications in mind. Their new form factor, including an ultra-small footprint and a significant reduction in weight makes them ideal for on wafer testing. The tuner can be integrated with off the shelf positioners and can easily be connected directly to the RF probe to achieve optimum tuning range across the band.

The OMEGA tuners can also be used for fixtured 5G testing, whether it be for Ruggedness or constant VSWR measurement applications, with easy plug-and-play convenience.

With two models covering the bands of 18-72GHz (C72180) and 18-50GHz (C50180), all frequencies of interest for 5G are covered.

Key Features

  • Fundamental tuning from 18-72GHz and 18-50GHz
  • Direct connection to the RF probe for maximum tuning range
  • Reduced impedance skew for modulated signals
  • Ideal for ON Wafer 5G applications
  • Smallest tuner size ever (smaller than a baseball / orange)
  • Ultra-light tuner body (just over 1lbs / 0.6kg)

Additional Information

Focus Microwaves’ new omega series of electro-mechanical tuners are designed for 5G test applications in mind. It’s small footprint makes it ideal for on wafer testing. Its reduced weight and size not only allows to get the tuner closer to the device but makes its easy to integrate with off the shelf positioners. The user can now connect the tuner directly to the RF probe and get optimum tuning range.

The OMEGA tuners can also be used for fixtured 5G testing, whether it be for Ruggedness or constant VSWR measurement applications, with easy plug-and-play convenience.

Impedance tuners used in high power measurements suffer fast heating and consequently thermal expansion of the center conductor, which has a very small mass and is thermally isolated from the environment and tuner housing. This leads to false measurements or catastrophic tuner failure (short) of either the DUT or the tuner. Modified center conductors are made of two pieces and comprise a flexible joint between them that allows longitudinal center conductor expansion and contraction, thus preserving tuner accuracy and safety. Practical tests have shown significant improvement in thermal behaviour.
